Do you think using dark shades in your home makes your home moody and changes your perspective on how you are in your home? I believe yes, however there is a way to use dark colours in a good way in connection to how your mental and emotional state will react.
I’ve noticed with age my colour pallatte leans more to the more subtle darker moody colours than when I was a teenager and loved highlighter colours in all their vividness.
Dark blue is a colour which can invoke sadness as it is a more moody version of the chirpy bright blue which represents calmness, however you can make the colour work by adding more white to the room and using the blue only in an ascent. Like on one wall or as the removable decor items like throw pillows in a lounge or curtains in the bedroom. I find that in the above image that adding a touch of gold with moody colours gives a feeling of elegance and wealth.

The colour purple generally invokes spirituality and relaxation where the darker moody colour purple can invoke feelings of sadness(like moody blue) and frustration. When using this colour like the images above using lighter shades of the colour itself, as well as browns, golds and greys to bring in the luxury and tranquility element.

Green is a very good colour for the kitchen as it promotes the need to eat healthier, dark green however could invoke jealousy and envy if not used correctly. Once you add your gold, greys, whites, browns and lighter colours it can bring in nature and make your home feel even more oxygenated, as you can see and almost feel in the above images. Green is a very beautiful colour and gives the presence of abundance and money when used correctly.

Blacks and greys are colours that always need to be paired with other colours, especially different shades of greys(the lighter ones). This is because blacks and greys represent darkness and the issue with darkness is it over powers whatever emotion you are feeling or absorbs that feeling.
In a bedroom that is just black if you are in a bad mood you will be sucked into that, when you feel happy you will be fine as the moodiness of the room has nothing to affect(in terms of your emotions). The best choice is to pair it with the browns, golds and any other colours you love. Blacks and greys go with any colours, it’s always a matter of what emotions you’d like to invoke in that room. It never has to be a lot of another colour even like the above images it could be a splash of the colour in a painting, side lamps, throw cushions or plants.
Let’s find ways to make our homes comfortable to be in mentally, emotionally, spiritually and never forgetting aesthetically.
Be more artsy ❤️
